Zibret strikes bronze again
Zala Maria Zibret has won her second bronze medal in her career at the European Senior Karate Championships in Frankfurt, Germany.
FRANKFURT, GERMANY — Slovenia’s Zala Maria Žibret has done it again, solidifying her place among Europe’s elite karatekas.
Fighting in the fiercely competitive female kumite +68kg division at the European Karate Championships in Frankfurt, Germany, Zibret captured a well-deserved bronze medal.
This spectacular podium finish is no fluke; it marks a back-to-back continental triumph for the elite fighter. Just two years prior, she announced her presence on the grand stage by capturing bronze in Zadar, Croatia. Returning to the European stage under immense pressure to defend her status, Zibret rose to the challenge beautifully, proving that her world-class consistency is here to stay.
Beyond the personal glory, Zibret’s triumph is a monumental milestone for her home nation. This victory secures Slovenia’s eighth-ever medal at the European Championships, since 1993.
Zala Maria Zibret won a bronze medal in Zadar, Croatia, while coached by Matija Matijevic, who won a silver medal in Male Kumite 75kg at the 42nd European Senior Karate Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, in 2007.
